After months of grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, cricket fans in India and around the world have received the much needed good news. The BCCI has announced that it has received the necessary clearances from the Indian Government to host the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League in the UAE.
The 2020 edition of the IPL will also be the longest ever edition of the glitzy league to be staged from 19th September to 10th November. The tournament is expected to be played across three cities - Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Although there is no official announcement on whether fans would be allowed into stadiums, the Emirates Cricket board has hinted that they hope to receive clearance for 30 - 50% crowds to be allowed, at least in the later stages of the league.
Indian sports fans have been in lockdown for months and while they are beginning to come to terms with the new normal, many ambitious fans have indicated their willingness to travel to the middle east and watch matches live in the stadiums if allowed to. Well the good news is that travel restrictions to the UAE have been modified and as of today, passengers with all types of valid visas can travel to the UAE from India subject to COVID-19 PCR tests and a few related undertakings.
Gainwell Sports fans can avail of Gainwell Travel's customisable travel packages to the UAE and book their holiday to the middle east. As flights from India are currently limited, these packages are expected to sell out quickly. Once confirmed news on whether fans will be allowed into stadiums is available, there is expected to be a huge frenzy of fans trying to make their way to Dubai.
